Grasmere, Lake District, UK

The Lake District and Cumbria where hit by devastating floods during the winter of 2015-2016. Many business' and homes where flooded and as a result, lives altered. The lasting damage was the affect on the transport network, with numerous roads, footpaths and bridges washed away. The A591 main road that connects the north to the south Lakes was closed for 5 months while repair work went on. It left towns like Grasmere, here in the picture, isolated from an important source of business and trade.
