Drogo Fall
River Teign, Dartmoor, UK
Early starts aren't too much of a challenge at this time of year but when your plans are spoilt by weather conditions it can be pretty frustrating. I returned to this vantage point above the Teign valley in hope of some sunlight hitting the tops of the Autumnal trees, however that plan was quickly scuppered by approaching cloud that diffused the sunlight just after it rose. Left without any other photographic opportunities because of my location I returned to the car disappointed that another morning was wasted. It wasn't until I returned home and looked at the images that I took before sunrise that I realised I had captured a great scene with subtle colours. With having the image of my initial plans so en-grained into my mind it's almost as if I had ignored everything that happened beforehand. It just goes to show that keeping an open mind on any shoot is vital to capture successful images.
