Lingmoor Heather

Lingmoor Fell, Lake District

Masses of heather carpet many of the fells during late summer, creating a spectacular sight, and equally impressive aroma. However, the bloom can be short lived. In an attempt to capture the last of the colour I spent the night camped on Lingmoor fell which has a commanding view over the Langdale Valley and peaks that surround it. Although I was left frustrated by cloud and rain when I arrived, breaks began to appear not long after sunrise and dappled light struck the hills beyond.
