Snowdon Star
Snowdonia, UK
My first but certainly not last trip up Wales' highest mountain, Snowdon was one not to forget. Amazing conditions and brief yet stunning bursts of sunlight made for great start to 2013. Sub zero temperatures and bitter conditions made for a long night in the tent below the summit. Waking up at 5 we packed up the tent and began the 200m climb to Snowdon's summit. We got up in good time which gave ourselves time to find compositions although getting around proved tricky with so much ice underfoot. I tread carefully and waited patiently for the sun to rise. The light only lasted what seemed like seconds but looking back at my LCD screen I gingerly walked away with a big smile on my face.
