Red sky over dartmoor

Yar Tor Explosion

Yar Tor, Dartmoor, UK

'You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't' was one of those phrases that repeated itself in my head when I was sat in my room refreshing the Met Office weather forecast website. With so many failed trips before hand I was some what reluctant to head out to be potentially disappointing once again. However if you don't attempt to try then you might as well not try at all so with that in mind I left the house in search of a good vantage point for what either could have been a spectacular or useless sunset. I found myself at Yar tor in search of some of the dwindling heather but as I predicted the clumps of heather had died off leaving me with little to work with. As the sun dropped below the horizon the sky began to transform into a display of some of the most intense and dynamic lighting I have ever witnessed. Awe struck I nearly forgot to take any photos! The glow created from the sunset lasted for an hour which is rare to say the least and was such a joy to watch and I hope I was able to do it justice.
