Arriving home from Scotland late on the Monday a little worse for wear I knew there were some great conditions in the Lake District. Many of the forecasts conflicted with each other but with the milder weather on the way I wanted to make the most of it. So, reluctantly, I left home at 4.30am the following morning not really knowing what to expect and after an hour and a half hike up the flanks of Place Fell I was greeted with what can only be described as a picture postcard scene!
