In former years St Ives like so many towns in Cornwall was solely dependent on fishing. The decline in fishing, however, caused a shift in commercial emphasis, and the town is now a popular holiday resort which is easy to see why. St Ives has become renowned for it's number of artists which have been drawn to the pristine white sand, idycllic town houses and a beautiful sweeping harbour which is also why so many photographers also visit this famous Cornish town.
